The KwaZulu-Natal Tourism and Film Authority is responsible for marketing and promoting the tourism and audio-visual industries, facilitating sector development, creating sustainable growth and job opportunities, and addressing historical imbalances in infrastructure, skills and resource distribution. This aligns with the Authority’s mission to initiate, facilitate, coordinate and implement strategic tourism marketing and demand-driven tourism development programmes; to grow tourism, transformation of the province’s tourism sector and provide economic benefits to all stakeholders.

The KZN Film Commission also provide production support to filmmakers through its One-stop-shop which serves as a single point of contact for both local and international filmmakers. The One-Stop-shop offerings include assistance with; finding local crew and cast, film facilities, film permitting and local scouting. To date, there have been a range of productions shooting in KZN as a result of the growing interest for filmmakers to shoot their films in the province. The following are some of the productions that have made KZN their home; Keeping up with the Kandasamys, Deep End, 3 Days to Go, The Uncovered, London Recruits, Love Lives here, JIVA, Uzalo, Hostela, Durban Gen, Imbewu and many other productions.
