The impacts of climate change are already here. Extreme weather events have become more common and these leave communities vulnerable.Climate change makes the future seem even more uncertain. Natural hazards such as wildfires, droughts, floods and storms are becoming both harder to predict and more severe.
On the 27th of September 2023 the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs conducted a Climate Change Capacity building workshop for Jozini Local Municipality Disaster Management, Planning Practitioners, Councillors and ward committees at Machibini Community Hall. The Workshop was a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration and knowledge - sharing amongst the three Spheres of the Government on the effects climate change & associated extreme weather disasters have for components such as health, water and food security, human settlements, energy security, income security, and land security.
