The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and, Environmental Affairs through its Environmental Empowerment Management Directorate hosted a biodiversity conservation and climate mitigation capacity building workshop at the Makhuphula Community Hall in UMsinga Local Municipality today.
Held under the theme “Working with Nature: Building Climate Resilience through Biodiversity Conservation," the workshop is significant this month as it targets the youth and sought to strengthen community understanding of the critical role that biodiversity conservation plays in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The programme provided participants with knowledge and practical insights on nature-based solutions, ecosystem protection, sustainable natural resource management, and actions that contribute to climate-resilient communities.
It is through initiatives such as this workshop, KZN EDTEA continues to advance environmental awareness, promote sustainable development, and empower communities to actively participate in conserving biodiversity while addressing the impacts of climate change.
