The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs MEC, Rev. Musa Zondi, today (23 May 2025) delivered the opening remarks at the YAEI x Absa Youth Entrepreneurship Tour, held at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Edgewood Campus, in the eThekwini Metro.

During his address, MEC Zondi emphasized the importance of youth entrepreneurship in driving economic growth in KwaZulu-Natal. He highlighted government support, particularly through partnerships and targeted programmes that promote innovation, skills development, and access to funding and markets—especially in rural and township areas.

"Through strategic partnerships with institutions of higher learning, development agencies, and the private sector, we are driving initiatives that connect young entrepreneurs—particularly in rural and township economies—with funding, mentorship, and market access. These efforts are not just about jobs; they are about empowerment, sustainability, and shifting the economic narrative for future generations," said MEC Zondi.
