Under the theme Integrated Environmental Management, the Environmental Empowerment Management Services Unit hosted a successful capacity building workshop at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre, within the uGu District Municipality. The workshop was specifically aimed at empowering members of civil society with knowledge and tools to enhance environmental management efforts and align their initiatives with departmental programmes.
The key goal was to equip participants to become environmental ambassadors in their communities ,promoting sustainability and addressing the pressing challenges of climate change. Participants engaged in interactive sessions covering topics such as waste management, climate adaptation strategies, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable community practices.
The workshop also provided a platform for dialogue between civil society and government representatives, encouraging collaboration and long-term partnerships for effective environmental governance.
