The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), through its Tourism and Education Awareness unit, hosted a Tourism and Hospitality Students Enhancement Workshop today, 6 August 2025, at Mnambithi TVET College in Ladysmith.

Targeting N6 students, the workshop aimed to prepare youth for post-college life by offering insight into the tourism industry and its opportunities. Presentations from government and private sector stakeholders covered topics such as local tourism prospects, entrepreneurship, workplace readiness, and youth development support.

Students actively engaged in Q A sessions, gaining practical knowledge on employer expectations, how to start a business and avenues for accessing funding. This initiative forms part of EDTEA’s commitment to youth empowerment and building a skilled workforce for KwaZulu-Natal’s tourism sector.
