THE EKASI BUSINESS FAIR IGNITES ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN HAMMARSDALE

The KwaZulu‑Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), Rev. Musa Zondi, together with the Head of Department, Dr. Nkosenye Zulu, today attended the eKasi Business Fair at the Hammarsdale Junction Mall in eThekwini.

Proudly hosted by the Icebolethu Foundation, in strategic partnership EDTEA, Ithala Development Finance Corporation and the Moses Kotane Research Institute, the eKasi Business Fair is an economic empowerment initiative designed to support township entrepreneurs. The two-day event brought practical information, market access, mentorship and funding guidance directly to local business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs.

Building on the momentum of Day 1, which focused on exhibition stalls, market linkages and one-on-one mentorship, Day 2 placed emphasis on capability building and sectoral support. Today’s programme featured a mix of inspiration, practical masterclasses and sector panels.

A highlight was the panel discussion on customer care, marketing and the art of selling, featuring expert contributions where practical tips and actionable frameworks for improving sales and client relationships were shared.

Attendees also benefitted from an Ekasi Pitching Contest and a series of masterclasses led by experts such as EDTEA’s Acting Chief Director of Economic Empowerment, Mr. Thami Zondi, who shared powerful modern insights on unlocking opportunities for township entrepreneurs.
