SUPPLIERS DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), in collaboration with the Alfred Duma Local Municipality, KZN Provincial Treasury, and SARS, is hosting a Suppliers Development Workshop at the Ladysmith Town Hall, Alfred Duma Local Municipality.

This workshop aims to address the supply chain management (SCM) and compliance challenges faced by small businesses, which hinder their ability to access opportunities in both public and private sectors. It is specifically designed for small business owners and entrepreneurs who are eager to understand the complexities of business compliance and regulatory requirements.

The workshop will focus on providing participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the challenges of business operations, with an emphasis on compliance, to ensure that businesses are eligible for procurement opportunities and can thrive in a competitive market.

The following key topics will be covered to assist businesses in overcoming compliance challenges and gaining better access to opportunities:

SARS: Small Business Tax – A session focused on understanding tax obligations and the processes involved for small businesses.

Treasury: Central Supplier Database (CSD) updates and how to correctly fill out bid documents – Ensuring businesses are prepared for procurement opportunities and maintain up-to-date information.

EDTEA: B-BBEE Compliance and business support information – Providing guidance on B-BBEE requirements and how to enhance business competitiveness through certification.

Local Municipality: Local Economic Development (LED) support for small businesses – Explaining the various LED initiatives available at the local government level and how small businesses can access these support structures.
