STRATEGIC ECONOMIC COUNCIL SITTING ADVANCES KWAZULU-NATAL’S GROWTH AGENDA

The KwaZulu-Natal Economic Council convened today, 06 March 2026, at the Archie Gumede Conference Centre, bringing together Members of the Executive Council, Heads of Departments, senior government managers, organised business, labour, academia and civil society to deliberate on advancing the province’s economic agenda.

The session was led by the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Musa Zondi, on behalf of KZN Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli. The Council serves as a strategic platform for collaborative engagement aimed at shaping inclusive, sustainable and transformative economic development strategies for the province.

Discussions centred on unlocking investment opportunities, accelerating infrastructure-led development, strengthening regulatory frameworks and creating sustainable employment opportunities, particularly for youth and women.

The sitting also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on key economic priorities and strengthen coordination between government and social partners, with a shared focus on advancing inclusive growth and sustainable development in KwaZulu-Natal.
