MEC visiting the families affected by the veldfire in Boston
Today, July 17, 2024, Rev. Musa Zondi, the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs, joined KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli, Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Velenkosini Hlabisa, and Deputy Minister Dickson Masemola in a visit to the families affected by the recent veld fire in Boston, near Mpophopemi, within the uMngeni Local Municipality.
On Sunday, a tragic incident occurred when six firefighters lost their lives while combating veld fires in the Boston area, extending towards Bulwer in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. These courageous individuals, employed by Farmusa Contracting, a subcontractor for Sappi Forests, paid the ultimate price in their valiant efforts.
The delegation conducted visits to various households across the Msunduzi Local Municipality to extend their condolences to the bereaved families. The areas visited included Nxele and Shisane in Maswazini, Ward 8; Zuma and Rudula in Stolo Zondi Area, Ward 8; Ngcobo in Khokwane Area, Ward 39; Ngcobo in Nqabeni Area, Ward 3; Vusi Radula in Ward 8; Mabongi Sishane in Emaswazini, Ward 8.
