The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Rev. Musa Zondi, today tabled the Department's 2026/27 Budget Vote before the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, outlining the Department's strategic priorities to drive inclusive economic growth, create sustainable employment opportunities, strengthen support for businesses, grow the tourism sector, and promote environmental sustainability.
The Budget Vote reaffirmed the Department's commitment to building a resilient and inclusive provincial economy by accelerating investment, supporting township and rural economies, empowering SMMEs and cooperatives, and unlocking opportunities for young people, women and persons with disabilities.
MEC Zondi highlighted the importance of partnerships between government, the private sector and communities in advancing economic transformation and ensuring that development reaches all corners of KwaZulu-Natal. The Budget also places emphasis on strengthening governance, improving service delivery and creating an enabling environment that attracts investment and stimulates economic activity.
The Department will continue implementing programmes that promote industrialisation, expand market access for local businesses, enhance tourism destination development, and protect the province's natural environment while supporting sustainable economic development.
