KZN LAUNCHES DISABILITY BUSINESS CHAMBER TO DRIVE INCLUSIVE ECONOMIC PARTICIPATION

The MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Rev. Musa Zondi, today, 19 March 2026, officially launched the KwaZulu-Natal Disability Business Chamber at the Edward Hotel, marking a significant step towards inclusive economic development in the province.

The establishment of the Chamber introduces a dedicated business structure aimed at empowering entrepreneurs with disabilities by creating a platform for connection, collaboration, and sustainable growth. It is designed to serve as a vital support network, enabling access to opportunities, resources, and partnerships within the broader economic landscape.

This milestone underscores government’s commitment to prioritising persons with disabilities as active participants in the economy. Through strategic leadership and coordination, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) played a pivotal role in bringing this initiative to life.

Also in attendance was the Speaker of the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature, Nontembeko Boyce, further demonstrating the importance of this initiative at a provincial leadership level. The launch not only signals the beginning of a transformative journey but also calls on all stakeholders to work collectively in advancing the empowerment of youth, women, and persons with disabilities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the development of the country.
