KZN EDTEA and eDumbe Municipality Lead Clean-Up and Awareness Campaign in Ward 03

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), in partnership with eDumbe Local Municipality under the Zululand District Municipality, hosted an environmental clean-up and awareness campaign today, 19 August 2025, in Ward 03.

The day began with a clean-up drive targeting areas where illegal dumping is most common. Officials, community members, and programme volunteers joined hands to clear waste and reclaim these spaces. The exercise was not only about restoring cleanliness but also a demonstration of how communities can unite to combat pollution and promote healthier surroundings.

This was followed by a community awareness session where EDTEA senior managers and municipal leaders engaged with members of the Community Works Programme (CWP). The session focused on the dangers of illegal dumping, its impact on the environment and public health, and the role residents can play in maintaining clean communities.

Through this joint initiative, EDTEA and eDumbe Municipality reinforced their commitment to environmental sustainability while encouraging Ward 03 residents to take ownership of their environment and help prevent illegal dumping in the future
