The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in collaboration with the Department of Tourism and South African Local Government Association (SALGA) is hosting a two day (13 - 14 November 2024) KwaZulu-Natal Local Government Tourism Peer Learning Networking Session at St Lucia EcoLodge Guesthouse and Ecotours under uMtubatuba Local Municipality.
The purpose of the KZN LGTPLN is to provide a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building among tourism stakeholders, particularly local government officials, Councillors, industry professionals, and tourism experts.
The session focuses on best practices, innovative strategies, case studies, solutions to common challenges in the tourism sector, ensure alignment of municipal tourism plans with provincial and national plans, and provision of technical support to municipalities.
Presentations from the Department of Tourism, the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs: Environmental Management Services the South African Local Association, the Government Technical Advisory Centre, the KZN Tourism and Film Authority, and the Technical Innovation Agency were given on the first day.
