The Department of Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs, eThekwini Environmental Empowerment Services in partnership with Refresha Trading Enterprises organized an interschool upcycling fair for eThekwini schools which was hosted at KZN Sharks Board in Durban.
This fair aimed to encourage the learners as well as the community to recycle, reduce and reuse waste and to take care of Mother Earth. The schools that took part were: Khanyisani Primary School, Golden Steps Special School, Bellair Primary School, Nagari Pracharni Primary School, Spearman Primary School, Resmount Primary School and Uthongathi Primary School.
Learners displayed their end used projects from water bottles like candle holders, eco friendly irrigation system, hourglass and many more.
The 3rd prize was taken by Resmount Primary School, 2nd place by Golden Steps Special School and the winner was Uthongathi Primary School.
This interschool upcycling fair was also sponsored by John Dorys, Nedbank, KZN Sharks Board, Daisy business solutions, the Laser studio, Jimmy's killer prawns and Studio Sasha photography.
