GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURS WEEK ENTREPRENEUR PUBLIC SPEAKING WORKSHOP EMPOWERS ETHEKWINI SMMEs

The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), in partnership with the Durban Chamber of Commerce, is hosting an Entrepreneurs Public Speaking Workshop today, 19 November 2025, aiming at strengthening the capacity of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) within the eThekwini region. The workshop forms part of EDTEA’s ongoing efforts to support local economic growth by empowering emerging entrepreneurs with practical skills essential for business success.

Public speaking and confident communication are critical competencies for entrepreneurs who often need to pitch ideas, negotiate deals, market their businesses, and engage with stakeholders. Speaking at the event, EDTEA representatives emphasised that the main objective of the initiative is to empower entry-level SMMEs and enhance their confidence in conducting business.

Through professional guidance and interactive sessions, participants are equipped with techniques to articulate their value propositions, communicate with impact, and present their businesses effectively. The Department and the Durban Chamber reaffirmed their commitment to creating sustainable platforms that uplift local entrepreneurs, enabling them to thrive in competitive economic environments.
