FAST-TRACKING SERVICE DELIVERY IN AMAJUBA DISTRICT

As part of effort s to support local enterprises, on 26 March the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), Rev. Musa Zondi, handed over two commercial fridges to Zetpro Bakery, a business founded by Ms. Zanele Dlalisa. The initiative is part of EDTEA's ongoing efforts aimed at supporting upcoming entrepreneurs rural and township in effort to stimulate economic activities in these areas. Zetpro Bakery, which is based in Ward 22 of the Newcastle Local Municipality, specialises in producing cakes for various occasions and providing training for aspiring bakers.

"We wish you more growth and success until you get to a place where your business is not only bigger but create more opportunities," said MEC Zondi to the elated Ms. Dlalisa. MEC Zondi visited Zetpro during the Amajuba District Development Model (DDM) Cabinet Day where he assessed the progress of service delivery programmes in Madaden i. The DDM programme, led by KwaZulu - Natal Premier, Honourable Thamsanqa Ntuli, focused on strengthening government - community relations, fast - tracking service delivery, and addressing socio-economic challenges in the Amajuba District.

As part of the DDM’s activities, MEC Rev. Zondi also assessed the Madadeni Rectification Project in Ward 22, where 33 houses deemed structurally unsafe are being reconstructed. This initiative, led by the Newcastle Local Municipality in partnership with the KZN Department of Human Settlements , seeks to restore safe and dignified housing for affected families. The visit reaffirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating service delivery, supporting local businesses, and improving living conditions within the district.

This intervention aligns with the 7th Administration’s vision of a people-centered government that prioritizes efficiency, accountability, and tangible progress in improving the lives of KwaZulu-Natal citizens.
