KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Rev. Musa Zondi, today chaired the Provincial Tourism and Audio-Visual Committee (PTAC) meeting in Pietermaritzburg, bringing together government leaders, municipalities and key industry stakeholders to strengthen collaboration aimed at accelerating tourism growth, improving infrastructure and unlocking new investment opportunities across the province.
Opening the engagement, MEC Zondi reaffirmed the importance of integrated planning and collective action in positioning KwaZulu-Natal as a globally competitive tourism destination. Discussions focused on practical interventions to create a conducive environment for investment, with insights drawn from the eThekwini Presidential Working Group on Infrastructure and Service Delivery, strategies to improve infrastructure efficiency, and progress on road infrastructure projects that are critical to supporting tourism and economic development.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of policy alignment through the National Tourism Information Management System (NTIMS), reinforcing the need for stronger cooperation between national, provincial and local government to enhance tourism planning, improve data-driven decision-making and deliver seamless visitor experiences throughout the province.
Under the leadership of MEC Rev. Musa Zondi, the PTAC continues to serve as a strategic platform for fostering partnerships, addressing sector challenges and driving coordinated action that will enhance KwaZulu-Natal’s tourism competitiveness, attract investment and create sustainable economic opportunities for communities across the province.
