The Department of Economic Development Tourism, Environmental Affairs through its Sub-Programme Economic Empowerment in partnership with Newcastle Municipality and Newcastle Beauty Committee is 6 and personal care workshop at Madadeni Community hall.

BEE Operations and Township & Rural Revitalisation had engagements with beauty and personal care businesses in Newcastle mainly to conduct a needs assessment on the support that was required for them to grow and play a meaningful role in the health and beauty sector. One of the critical interventions is the clustering of the stakeholders and developing a comprehensive understanding of entrepreneurs in this sector and understanding challenges they are facing . The current businesses are involved in manufacturing of hair products, hair care solutions, skin care products and the provide services like beauty clinics, beauty spas, hair salons.

It was then agreed that there's a need for continues support by Edtea in order to prepare the sector to access market and they also showcased their products.

Presentations delivered include industry expert Khazimula Skincare, Services Seta, Standard Bank, Capitec, and Edtea.
