KZN YOUTH ECONOMIC INDABA.
The South African Youth Economic Council in partnership with the Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs today, 06 May 2023 hosted a successful first inaugural KZN Youth Economic Indaba in Kwa Mashu G section Community Hall under the theme: “Accelerating economic growth and investments in KwaZulu-Natal to aid South Africa’s economic and recovery plan.”
The main purpose of the Indaba was to engage robustly on how the youth of KZN can form part in the stimulation of the economy.
In his address, the MEC for EDTEA, Mr. Siboniso Duma highlighted massive opportunities which are offered by the department and its entities to enable young people of the province to actively participate in economic growth.
The Indaba also included a panel discussion on the current industrial plans and domestic capacity where the youth can play a leading role. The panelists included Mr. Kaya Ngqaka (CEO of KZN Growth Fund), Ms. Pearl Bhengu (GCEO of Ithala Bank), Ms. Sizakele Mzimela (CEO of Transnet-Freight Rail), Mr. Reginald Demana (CEO of SANRAL), Ms. Gugu Mkhize (CEO of Insurance SETA).
