GOVERNMENT INTENSIFIES UMNOTHO KUBANTU PROGRAM
The Leader of Government Business and MEC for Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal, MEC Siboniso Duma, together with MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Super Zuma, rolled out the Umnotho Kubantu outreach programme at Forderville Community Hall, Estcourt.
This programme is designed to eradicate poverty by linking small-scale farmers to the market and providing training to ensure the production of high-quality products while creating self-sufficiency within small-holder agriculture.
Over 4000 KZN farmers have made a turnover of R141 million since the launch of the programme, and the department is dedicated to tripling the numbers.
The MECs concluded the day by engaging farmers about market opportunities available to them.
