CELEBRATING 100 DAYS AND BEYOND IN OFFICE

Leader of Government Business and MEC for Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs Mr Siboniso, commemorated his 100 days and beyond program this weekend, which focused on outlining what has been done so far and what the general strategy of the department is towards investment and economic growth in the province going forward. The event hosted at least 1500 people, which was made up of community members, local businesses that exhibited, officials, Traditional leaders, in UGU District and Local Municipalities.

‘’The Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs is a potent weapon of transformation of the lives of our people in the hands of a revolutionary government, and it should be seen as a catalyst player in fulfilling the ideals and vision of the Freedom Charter, which talks to amongst other things:

‘To self-determination of the People, that the people shall have equal rights, and these are rights to opportunities. That the people Shall Share in the Country’s Wealth’. – To this end, the Freedom Charter further said “The national wealth of our country, the heritage of South Africans, shall be restored to the people.

The mineral wealth beneath the soil, the Banks and Monopoly industry shall be transferred to the ownership of the people as a whole. All other industry and trade shall be controlled to assist the well-being of the people. And all people shall have equal rights to trade where they choose to manufacture and to enter all trades, crafts and professions.” remarked MEC Siboniso Duma at the KwaZulu- Natal Investment Indaba.
