His excellency the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Sihle Zikalala and the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Ravi Pillay on the 14th of December 2020 attended Vodacom 5G Media Launch at Max’s lifestyle uMlazi.

 

The launch of the fifth generation mobile technology is I line with the provincial government’s digital transformation strategy which seeks to bridge the digital divide in the province of KwaZulu-Natal.

uMgungundlovu District HIV/AIDS Awareness Campaign, 08 December 2020

Get tested; know your status MEC Pillay urges people of uMgungundlovu during the HIV and AIDS Awareness campaign which took place in Cool Air-uMshwathi Local Municipality under uMgungundlovu District municipality on the 8th of December 2020.

 

Along with number of civil society religious leaders across all religions MEC Pillay encouraged the community of uMgungundlovu to get tested and to take their antiretroviral.

KwaZulu-Natal Tourism Activation Campaign, 29 November 2020

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs public entity Tourism KZN on the 29th held tourism activation campaign at Giba Gorge.

 

The MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Ravi Pillay took part in 5.5Kilomter hike which was part of activation campaign. Tourism has partnered with a number of role players to showcase the beauty of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal.

Blue Flag Status for KwaZulu-Natal Beaches, 27 November 2020

The KwaZulu –Natal beaches on the 27 November 2020 were awarded with the Blue flag status for 2020/2021. Those Beaches are from Ethekwini Metro, Dr Ray Nkonyeni and KwaDukuza Municipalities.

 

Speaking at the event the MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Ravi Pillay said “We must do more to bring to the attention of beachgoers everywhere that we have, in KwaZulu-Natal, not only outstanding beaches, but beaches which have been recognised internationally for the qualities every holidaymaker desires. Water quality, facilities and safety.

Launch of 16 Days of Activism: No Violence against Women and Children Abuse, 25 November 2020

The MEC for Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Ravi Pillay on the 25 November 2020 lead a massive march against the gender violence directed to Women and Children, as part of 16 Days of Activism at uMsunduzi Local Municipality under uMgungundlovu District Municipality. UMsunduzi Local Municipality is amongst the top places of reported cases of gender based violence. The MEC Champion of uMgungundlovu District, Mr Ravi Pillay made a strong appeal to the community to take a stand against violence directed to women and children.
