The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs through its Consumer Protection office partnered with the Greater Kokstad Municipality and uMzimkhulu Local Municipality hosted a successful consumer awareness campaign today.
Hosted at the Greater Kokstad Municipality’s Youth Centre (eBhongweni) the campaign aimed at educating and informing consumers about various issues relating to products, services, or practices that may impact their daily lives.
Following a successful day one session that happened at the Greater Kokstad Local Municipality yesterday; attendees from uMzimkhulu came out in even bigger numbers to learn more about consumer protection and its services.
The campaign's purpose is to provide accurate and unbiased information, enabling consumers to make informed decisions, while also protecting them from exploitation and promoting safe practices.
The Consumer Protection Office encourages healthy choices, supports vulnerable groups, and advocates for consumer rights, ultimately building consumer confidence in the marketplace by promoting transparency, accountability, and fairness among businesses.
