VUTHELA ILEMBE PROGRAMME

Vuthela iLembe LED  programme is funded by Government of Swiss Confederation, represented by State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). The partners of the programme are National Treasury,  iLembe,  kwaDukuza and Mandeni municipality.  EDTEA was requested to be an implementing Body on behalf of the National Treasury. 

The programme objective is to improve the economic future of the iLembe District Municipality and the quality of life  for its inhabitants, through sustainable growth of the local economy and the creation of higher, better,  and more inclusive employment and income generating opportunities.  The programme is primarily a technical assistance programme that integrates various strategic components that impact Local Economic Development. 

The programme commenced in 2017 and will be completed in December 2023. The close-out workshop: "learning from doing " aimed to share lessons learned in the implementation of the integrated LED programme by different role players.
