UTHUKELA DISTRICT TOURISM CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP

Officials from the Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs department, led by the Leader of Government Business and MEC, Mr. Siboniso Duma, have graced the Ladysmith area to conduct a workshop for the Uthukela District Councillors and the District Traditional Leadership.

Tourism is often perceived as being the exclusive domain of the ministry responsible for tourism, yet the successful development of tourism requires several different spheres and government departments, including local government, government agencies, communities, and the private sector.

The two-day workshop starting today, August 17, 2023, is expected to heighten the understanding of tourism within local government and leadership structures and facilitate the promotion of tourism as an instrument for local economic development.
