OUTREACH PROGRAMME

The Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs, Program 7, in partnership with the South African Association for Marine Biological Research, did a week-long outreach programme for schools under the uGu district Municipality to expand environmental awareness linked to the ocean. A total of 13 schools were visited.

High school's programme targeted grade 9's since they will be choosing a career subject next year. These learners were introduced to scarce careers found within the marine environment.

The primary school's programme entailed an interactive PowerPoint presentation on the relationship of the sun and moon to Earth in relation to tides sustaining a unique shoreline. It’s an interactive session where students are brought into understanding and have opportunities to ask questions.
