INTEGRATED ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT (IEM) CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN
To commemorate National Women's Month, the Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs: eThekwini Environmental Empowerment Services unit conducted a workshop in the Durban Natural Science Museum to capacitate community-based women-in-environment organisations, who are mostly farmers, on Integrated Environmental Management (IEM).
Presentations conducted were aimed at achieving a desirable balance between the protection of environmental resources and development through capacity building on: water use licences; invasive alien species; environmental Impact assessments; climate change, pollution, and waste matters, including promotion of recycling; as well as the development of cooperatives.
