FESTIVE SEASON SAFETY AND COMMUNITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

The Festive Season Safety and Community Awareness Campaigns held at Umhlabuyalinga LM, Zululand DM, and UPhongolo LM yielded positive results as Tourism Development and strategic stakeholders including the SAPS, RTI, municipal traffic police, and the Road Accident Fund engaged visitors coming into KZN on issues of safety at the Kosi Bay border with Mozambique and Golela and Onverwacht border posts with Swaziland. The teams also inspected tour buses to ensure compliance. The teams also engaged nearby communities, educating them of the importance of their contribution towards ensuring that tourism thrives. Members of the communities expressed concern about several issues, including crimes committed along the border, including the trafficking of marijuana.
