BAKING AND COMPUTER SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMME

In fighting the scourge of gender-based violence observed during this period (25 November – 10 December , 2023), the Department of Economic Development, Tourism, and Environmental Affairs has facilitated different empowerment programmes to ensure that women are skilled, empowered, and able to stand on their own to support their families. Through the Women and People with Disabilities Economic Empowerment Directorate working together with the Department of Social Development, 100 women will benefit from the baking and computer skills programme. The Department will not only end with providing skills to these women but will also give support through business skills programmes, registration of businesses, and accessing funding to purchase equipment to start their businesses. This programme is currently running in Amajuba District, Ugu District, and Ilembe District, with two districts starting training in January (Umgungundlovu and Harry Gwala District).
