Business Regulation Campaign In Uthukela District Municipality, 9 April 2019

The MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Sihle Zikalala visited Estcourt CBD where he conducted a massive Business Regulation & inspection at some trading stores. Some of the violations ranged from expired foods, labour law infringements & illegally-run loan shark businesses. The MEC was appalled, also at the violation of basic conditions of employment wherein some of the employees are kept overnight at the shop.

Mr Sihle Zikalala was compelled to pull out of the shelves some of the expired food products and cosmetic products while slapping the owners of the shop with notices, he promised to return unannounced back to the shop to ensure some of the compliance issues have been addressed.

He then proceeded to Bergville for a community engagement where he blessed the people in business with gifts such as stoves and fridges so that their businesses can operate better and successfully.
