  • MEC ZIKALALA VISITS SUMITOMO RUBBER SA PLANT IN LADYSMITH. Sumitomo is a global Japanese company that manufactures the iconic Dunlop brand. On 23 March 2016, the company announced the commencement of the second phase of its R2 billion investment for the upgrade and expansion of its tyre manufacturing plant at Ladysmith. MEC Zikalala has urged Sumitomo to support SMMEs and government initiatives like YES announced by President Ramaphosa to give unemployed youth work experience.   • KWAZULU-NATAL GOVERNMENT TO TAKE STERN ACTIONS AGAINST BUSINESSES THAT VIOLATE CONSUMER RIGHTS... THE MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Sihle Zikalala, says the net is fast closing on dishonest traders who offer unsuspecting customers sub-standard products, services and hiking prices beyond market related costs. Mr Zikalala and his team have in recent times criss-crossed the province, conducting in loco inspections at various business sites where they discovered that some errant enterprises were engaging in unfair business practices.
  • On Friday, 03rd August 2018, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs Mr Sihle Zikalala announced a battery of measures directed at curbing rising incidents of consumer rights violations in the province. In view that government has responsibility of ensuring honest and ethical business practices that guarantee the rights of both customers and entrepreneurs, Mr Zikalala felt obliged to practically respond to increasing complaints about fraudulent acts by some business operations, including online transactions. Harmonious relations between clients and traders often serve as a solid foundation for economic prosperity as it bolsters the prospect of more investments into the economy.
